Thanks for registering for our next adventure race clinic! The clinic will enhance your skills for adventure racing and get you better prepared for completing an adventure race event. Kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided as part of the clinic. You will need to provide your own MTB and Helmet (unless you have booked one through us).
If you have any special dietary requirements let us know by Wednesday 9th September 2020. Please arrive by 7:45am, so we can make a prompt start at 8:00am.
Agenda:
08:00 – Introductions – Course expectations
08:15 – Navigation Theory – Bearings, magnetic variation, interpreting the map, map marking, hand rails, time estimation
09:45 – Break
10.00 – Micro Navigation – Practical including strategy and involving the team
11:30 – Kit (light is right) – What to wear and take (map boards)
11:45 – Training and Injury Prevention
12:00 – Lunch (Provided) – Talk about nutrition & hydration
12:30 – Mountain Biking – Cover bike selection/tuning & accessories (eg computer & tires), How to attack uphills, downhills, practical. Team tactics – towing etc. Bike navigation
13:50 – Break
14.10 – Kayaking – Cover stroke theory & practical
15:30 – End of Training Day
Kit List:
If you don’t have everything on the kit list, see if you can borrow it from a friend before you buy it. After the clinic, you will have a better idea of what to buy and what works and what doesn’t.
-Windproof/waterproof outer
-Towel
-Bike shorts
-Cap
-MTB gloves
-Shoes for running, cycling and canoeing
-Sun cream
-Compass and watch (we can lend you a compass if you don’t have one)
-Pen and paper
-Means of carrying 2 litres of water while running & riding
-Snack food
-Mountain bike
-Cycle helmet (Australian Standards approved)
-Bike tools (at least sufficient to repair puncture)
Venue:
The clinic will be held at Bilarong Reserve, North Narrabeen NSW. This is 25km from the centre of Sydney and it takes approximately 45 mins to drive there. For directions CLICK HERE for the Google link and put in your start location.
Parking:
You may like to park on Palm Terrace (parallel to Wakehurst Parkway) to avoid the $20 parking fee to park in the reserve. Then all you need to do is walk across the road.
