Lock in your next adventure! The Max Adventure Race Series is back, and this time we’re heading to the magnificent Blue Mountains on September 16th, 2023!
The Blue Mountains, with its twisting bush trails, steep green gullies, deep sandstone gorge and the mighty Nepean River will test your endurance, strategy, and teamwork. If you haven’t tried adventure racing before this is the perfect opportunity to get out there and have a fantastic time with your teammate in one of our beautiful National Parks.
How does it work?
Working together in teams of two you must visit each of the checkpoints in turn by navigating the course by foot, mountain bike and kayak. The course is kept secret until the race day, with maps revealed to you when you collect your race bag at registration. Checkpoints should be collected in order – missed checkpoints will add to your final race time, and bonus checkpoints (if collected) will give you a time deduction.
How challenging is it?
With two course options, there’s something for everyone.
Ready to tackle the ultimate adventure challenge? The CLASSIC COURSE is the one for you! With approximately 15-25km of mountain biking, 5-10km of trail running and 2-4km of kayaking, teams take between 3-6 hours to finish the course depending on fitness levels and their navigation choices. This year the classic course will take you through the iconic Glenbrook Gorge – always a favourite! We can guarantee the wet feet will be worth it, this is truly beautiful Blue Mountains terrain, unlike anything else in the world.
New to adventure racing? The NOVICE COURSE is designed with beginners in mind, providing a taste of the Max Adventure Race excitement without overwhelming you. Distances are shorter, navigation a little easier, and teams will take 1.5-4 hours to complete the course. Our race director will also provide a thorough race briefing and a tips and tricks session before the event kicks off, making sure you know just what to expect out there.
