It was a wet and wild Max Adventure Race on Saturday at Audley as the heavens opened up and left all the teams well and truly soaked!

Despite the adverse conditions a massive field turned up and tackled the course. Teams climbed some steep hills on the foot legs, rode along exhilarating single track mountain bike trails and paddled on the Port Hacking River.

The course had some tricky checkpoints and all teams should be congratulated for navigating well and embracing the additional challenge of the weather. Teams stuck to the task and got the job done, finishing with a smile and a Mountain Culture beer to celebrate their accomplishments. They went down a treat!

With the weather causing presentations not to be held an extra special shout out to those teams that finished on the podium in their respective categories.

Quickest Classic Male team and quickest overall were Belrose Bicycles (Chad & Ryan Armstrong) followed by Hurt Lockers (Charles Legget & Tom Mort) and Dingos (Ryan Hardy & Timothy Hubbell).

In the Classic Mixed Category it was Cheeky Cheetahs (Jody Mielke & Sean Murray) first home then Deep Cave/Little Arrow (Catherine Secombe & Timothy O’Connell) and Chicken Feet (Helaina Vistnes & Ben Camilleri).

Among the Female Classic teams it was Checkpoint Chasers (Emma Inglis & Sandi Strickland) then The Mountain Devils (Lauren Storaker & Molly Thompson) and Perfect Strangers (Sandra Ridley & Ulla Cady) in third place.

The fastest Female Novice team was First Dash (Natalie & Emilia Kaebisch) followed by Mini JJs (Jayde Agnew & Jessica Thomas) and The Coastal Kooks (Amanda & Alexis Charalambous)

Meanwhile the Novice Mixed category was won by Maya & Dad (Maya & Shaun Anderson) then We Know the Way (Judith & Christopher Thorn) and The Twigsters (Damien & Wren Dubrowin)

Then for the Novice Male teams, first home, and quickest Novice team was Team Targett (Luke & Lachlan Targett) followed by Team Roberts (Glenn & Mark Roberts) and Radam (Ranald Weir & Adam Long).

For those podium finishers please keep an eye on your inbox for details on your prizes.

Due to a postal issue we also ran a bit short of the Royal National Park ribbons to attach to your finishers medals. If this was you and your team if you could please fill out this form so we can mail out you correct ribbon! Apologies again for this error.

Another special shout out to our event volunteers who braved the weather to help make the event happen, spare a thought for the event sweeper Andrew who was out until 4pm collecting checkpoints and making sure all the teams were off the course!

The crew from Bundeena RFS were also there cooking up a storm and we thank them for their support and we hope to see them back next year!

The day was captured by the team at Outer Image. You can access your collection of images by your team number. Don’t forget to tag us @maxadventureau on socials as you relive the moments and share them with your friends and family.
