This event has a history of predictably unpredictable weather and Sunday delivered a seriously mixed bag! Sunshine in the morning, a few light showers, some short downpours, and plenty of fine sections in between – racers did well to take it all in their stride. Out on course, teams tackled a brilliant mix of flowing trails, twisting singletrack, steep climbs, technical descents, and fast open running sections. The trails were in great condition, but collecting every elusive checkpoint still demanded smart navigation, teamwork and grit. All of it unfolded against the spectacular backdrop of The Royal National Park, one of Sydney’s most spectacular pockets of bushland.
Full race results are now available. Congratulations not only to the podium place-getters across the categories but to every team that got out there, embraced the challenge and adventure. That’s what this sport is all about!
Make sure you check out the official race photos from the team at Outer Image Collective! Photos are organised into team number folders but be sure to check out the un-numbered folder for any images that couldn’t be tagged, especially for the kayak sections.
Events like this don’t happen without an incredible crew of volunteers leading a hand. We’re hugely grateful for the time and enthusiasm they bring to race day. A huge shoutout to Paddy Pallin for supplying an incredible range of finish line prizes and quality gear to fuel even more adventures for our participants long after race day. Special thanks to Bundeena RFS for providing the post-race BBQ for hungry racers and finish line supporters and CREST, for ensuring event communications across the course.
And thanks again to everyone who joined us for the Sydney Max Adventure Race. We loved seeing teams out exploring and sharing the adventure together.
