A huge congratulations to every single team who lined up for this year’s Sunshine Coast Max Adventure Race, you should be incredibly proud of what you achieved.
QLD certainly turned on the weather for us. Blue skies, sunshine and perfect winter temperatures made for an unforgettable day.
Recent forestry clearing replaced the familiar maze of shaded forest tracks with wide open spaces and long views across to the spectacular Glass House Mountains. It created a whole new style of navigation, where distant landmarks and vegetation changes became just as important as the tracks beneath your feet. The open terrain certainly made itself known, with teams moving quickly across the course and recording some seriously fast times.
The low tide during the kayaking leg turned the mangrove entry/ exit into a memorable challenge, with every passing team making the mud just that little bit deeper and stickier for those behind them. Shin-deep mud and plenty of laughs were all part of the adventure… That’s what it’s all about.
There was a big turnout from parent/ child teams this year with over 50% of the Novice teams having a teammate under the age of 18. We love seeing the next gen of adventure racers at our events, showing us that adventure racing really is for anyone with a sense of adventure.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers for their enthusiasm and energy throughout the day.
A big thank you to Colorado Coffee for keeping everyone fuelled with excellent pre-race coffee before the start. And an extra congratulations to the Colorado Coffee team, who backed up serving coffees by taking out the Classic Female category! All in a day’s work!
And thank you to Landsborough Scouts for putting on the post race BBQ and providing for hungry teams.
